The team assembled by Prof. Corinne Beauquis has carried out a series of tasks essential to the LEAF project and the development of the FREC11 course

Our tasks

What did we do?

ELAINA GONSALVES

Since my arrival within the LEAF team in the summer of 2024, I have created an annotated bibliography with plenty of resources for students to use,  addressing various concerns such as maintaining class participation and student engagement in class, reinforcing the self-confidence of future teaching candidates, especially for FSL students, and managing difficult teaching settings while overcoming adversity. I have proposed many new topics for modules that will be relevant for aspiring educators.  Furthermore, I have looked for new content for future supporting modules regarding classroom management, communication with parents, and specialized education to support the students who will be taking FREC11.

EVAELLE MANGLE

During my time working on the FREC11 project, I have conducted more research to add two pages of useful links for bilingual employment research. I also researched useful materials for the FREC11 course, and have identified similar French programs in other universities. Our team designed questions for a new podcasts series, when we interview current partners and previous students having completed their EL (Experiential learning) placements.

For partner podcasts, we sought to better understand our partners' demands and their expectations of our students, in order to prepare them responsibly. In the student podcast, we aim to bring in previous students having completed their placement, to discuss their experiences and share advice, thereby answering most of the current students' queries.

I hosted and recorded three student podcast episodes with using the makerspace at university.

SARA ZOGHBI

Since joining the LEAF team in October 2023, I have been writing and editing questionnaires for FREC11 teachers and students, as well as working on French-language promotional materials for education programs. I formatted and sent out these questionnaires translated into English and French, and also researched resources for the FREC11 course and identified similar courses at other universities to understand expectations and open up new possibilities.

Following this, I also made contact with partners with a view to the possible recording of new podcasts that could help students gain an insight into the expectations of the world of work. I had the opportunity to record podcasts and participate in the recording of episodes with Suzanne Kemenang from Terre d'Accueil and Astrid Delers from Alliance Française.

I took the time to evaluate the resources found for the FREC11 course and made adjustments, while widening the scope of the search by evaluating similar courses. I then searched for new resources in line with the course objectives, more specifically resources related to Artificial Intelligence in the world of higher education.

Finally, I proposed content for the FREC11 course and researched references and documents to support the creation of content and new courses.

ZOE MICHAILIDIS

In October 2023, I drafted and corrected FREC11 questionnaires for both teachers and students and worked on documents for the Promotion of Education Programs. In November, I formatted and dispatched the questionnaires translated into English and French.

I also searched for resources for the FREC11 course and researched similar courses. Additionally, I drafted questions for a podcast and recorded it with Suzanne Kemenang.

In December 2023, I evaluated the resources found for the FREC11 course, made adjustments, and widened the search field for similar courses. I also searched for new resources that better aligned with the course objectives. By January 2024, I proposed content for the FREC11 course and researched and proposed references and resources to support the accepted content. Finally, I contacted partners about the potential recording of a new podcast.
