ZOE MICHAILIDIS

Hi, my name is Zoe and I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, where I graduated with a double major in French and English Studies. I continued my post-graduate studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), where I obtained my Master of Teaching degree. I am certified by the Ontario College of Teachers and qualified to teach at the intermediate/senior level.

I love to travel, and among my favorite cities are Barcelona, Paris, Split and Athens. I'm a polyglot and speak English, French, Greek and a little Spanish.

I've been working with Professor Beauquis since 2020. I started as a research assistant in the Jackman Scholars-in-Residence program, which then led to a regular position as a research assistant for various projects related to Professeure Beauquis' experiential learning courses. I helped with data analysis and entry, the creation and editing of learning modules, and the creation and editing of podcasts, among other tasks.

I have been working with Professor Beauquis since the end of 2021. My professional background also includes a role as a research consultant at the Centre de recherche sur le développement international et la coopération (CIDIC), where I contributed to research projects related to public policy and developmental economics. As a research assistant, I was involved in data analysis and entry, the creation and editing of learning modules, and the creation and editing of podcasts, among other tasks.

ELAINA GONSALVES

Hello, my name is Elaina Gonsalves and I will be starting the final year of my bachelo in September 2024. I'm pursuing a major in French with a double minor in Anthropology and Humanitarian Health. I aim to continue my studies at OISE, in the Master of Teaching program, to become a high school French immersion teacher.

In the summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to join the LEAF project at UTSC under the supervision of Professor Corinne Beauquis, for the development of the FREC11 course. In this team, I am doing research in language didactics and French didactics in particular, I identify new resources to support future students of the course and finally,  I help develop new student preparation modules.

My passion for teaching has accompanied me throughout my studies, where I have worked as a mentor, facilitator and teaching assistant in a variety of settings. At UTSC, I took the FREB11 and FREC10 courses, which gave me the opportunity to participate in work-integrated learning placements and gain valuable teaching experience.

SARA ZOGHBI

Hello, my name is Sara Zoghbi. I grew up in an environment rich in cultural diversity and, thanks to my experience as an educator in international schools, I developed a tailor-made curriculum for my Masters in Linguistics, focusing on the development of intercultural skills for educational staff (teachers and administrators).

I also actively contribute to the development of a large AI language model and am involved in the integration of AI in educational environments as a course instructor at the University of Toronto.

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Social Justice Education at the University of Toronto. My projects focus on the preservation, understanding and promotion of Ontario's francophone community, reflecting my commitment to addressing the challenges of cultural diversity and promoting social justice through education and social integration.

SALIMATA LEYE

Hi, my name is Salimata, I am a third year student at the University of Toronto pursuing a Bachelor in Statistics, specializing in Machine Learning and Data Science and a minor in Linguistics. I am originally from Senegal, where I was born and raised but I've also lived in Brussels, Montreal and now Toronto.

I love travelling and have visited over 30 cities! I am fluent in French, English, and Wolof, and I’m currently learning Arabic. I’ve also developed a growing interest in linguistics, particularly language structures and phonetics.

I currently serve as of Vice-President of Finance in the African Students' Association and have been a mentor as part of the AccelHERation program for Women in Computer Science, Statistics and Mathematics. I also tutor middle school and high school students weekly, which has developed my interest in teaching and academia. I recently completed an internship at CN as a Solution Management Intern where I was focusing on data analytics to improve operational efficiency in the IT Infrastructure and Operations team. These experiences have fueled my passion for education and honed my project management skills which is why I am excited to work with Prof. Beauquis for the FREC11 project.
